Practice Log info for Fall 2017

Hi Piano Parents,

Since we are switching to a new studio portal system, this seems like a good time to try out logging the students' practice time online.  When you log in to your account, you will see a tab called "Practice Log".  If you click on that you will see how you can log in the students practice time each day.  If you would like the student to be able to do that themselves, they need an email address, then I can set them up.  (Just let me know.) 

For the months of September and October (possibly longer), I will have a jar of candy at the studio, and anyone who completes their online practice log the week of their lesson, can have a candy.  (If your child has allergies, please let me know what kind of candy or treat would work for them.)

Using the online practice log will be instead of checking off the paper practice sheets, which some students have found confusing. (Sorry about that.  I've been experimenting over the summer with some different forms, but I think it's worth a try to do it online.  Then we'll have a good record of how much practice they put in.)

I have also started a new thing.... I have a card for each student I keep next to the piano, and each time they pass a piece, they get a sticker on the card.  When they get up to 30 stickers, they get to pick a prize from the prize box.  Once the candy is gone from the jar, any student that completes their online practice log will get an extra sticker on their card that week towards earning a prize.

I haven't decided whether to print out practice notes each week to send home in their folders or to email them or to just let you look them up on your account if you need to see them.  If you have any preferences about that, please let me know.
