Mini Recitals 2021

This year we are doing our recitals in my backyard on my patio!

I live right next to a playground, so the audience can sit there to watch, as well as in☺ my backyard.

We are doing small groups of 4 or 5 families.

We are also doing an online recital the following Saturday for those who prefer that format.

It's been quite a different year for us, but we are adapting.

Praying for good weather on Saturday, June 5th.  The times are 9:30 and 10:30 am (hopefully before it gets too hot or noisy). ☺

Piano Studio Protocols - adjustments due to new dog :)

Hey Piano Families,

We are kicking off piano lessons this week and I just wanted to let you that since we adopted a new dog, Molly, this summer, we need to make an adjustment for how students are entering the studio.  

In the past, I have told some students to come right in without knocking.  Now, I would prefer if students wait on the porch or outside until I open the door for them.  This will be less disruptive for the lessons and for the dog.

Most lessons the dog will be with my teenager, who will watch her after school.  But there may be some days when that will not be an option, so Molly will be nearby or in the kennel if needed. It may take us a few works to figure out a good routine with her during lessons.

Molly is a very gentle dog and has been certified as an emotional support dog.  She is also very quiet and hardly ever barks.  I think she will adjust fine to the studio.  I hope the students will enjoy meeting her.

Also, I have put a little table on the porch next to the bench for take-home papers.  The Piano Explorer magazines and quarterly newsletters are there.  Please pick up a copy of each at your next lesson.  :)

Enrollments for 2018-19

Peden Piano Studio has ALMOST reached capacity for the 2018-19 school year.  I have 2 slots left for beginners!  Additional new students may request to be put on a waiting list to be notified if any more openings occur mid-year or next summer.

Helpful app to go with piano lessons

I've been introducing many of my piano students this week to a new app that I am using during their lessons that I think would also be useful to use at home.  It's called the Piano Adventures Player App.  It's available on itunes for ipad or iphone.  The app itself is free with a little free music to try it out with.  If you are able to purchase the level books your student is in, then they'd be able to use the app to help with their practicing at home.  I will be teaching them how to use the app during their lesson, then the app can be like a teacher's assistant at your home during the week. Piano for sale - excellent condition - great price!

I have a good friend whose kids are all grown and they are moving soon, so they are trying to find a new home for their piano.  They contacted me, knowing that I have some piano students who might be looking for an acoustic piano.  This piano is in great shape. It's been appraised at $1500, but they are generously offering it for only $300 if you come and move it.  (To hire a mover will be about $200 or so.)  You will also need to plan on tuning it after the move.  I can recommend a good tuner for you.

Fall Film Festival video

This year, for the first time ever, Peden Piano Studio made a video of the students performing their Halloween pieces.  Each student chose a piece in a minor key, chose a sound to play it with, then we recorded it during their lesson time.  Some chose to wear costumes or bring props.  It really motivated the students to play their best for the camera.  I hope you enjoy watching it.  Stay tuned till the end to see some bloopers and bonus material.
